"Just the place to bury a crock of gold," said Sebastian. "I should like to bury something precious in every place where I've been happy and then, when I was old and ugly and miserable, I could come back and dig it up and remember."

"Charles drinks champagne at all hours." The scene that always tickles my heart.

Plover's eggs and champagne all day. Teddy bear and Turkish cigarettes. Dove-grey flannel and crepe-de-chine. Chateau Peyraguey and strawberries. Sebastian Flyte and Charles Ryder. The novel, the tv series and the movie, all leave me oh so heartbroken, and with many questions that can find no answers.
