yesterday i blogged about our lunch at table no. 1. the restaurant is inside this awesome hotel called THE WATERHOUSE. one of china's leading architectural forces, neri & hu design and research office have done a magnificent job transforming this factory from the 1930's into this boutique hotel of 19 unique guestrooms next to huangpu river. there is a rooftop garden slash bar overseeing the skyline of shanghai. there are many little cement staircases leading to somewhere unexpected. the whole space is an amalgamation of something antique and something contemporary. a home-away-from-home that is complex yet minimal, public but private. and starbucks is just across the street! forget about the peninsula, i'm checking in here y'all
